THE TWINS
36 x 36
Twins---the universal symbol of duality, or opposing forces. In some Native
American cultures, however, twins symbolized unity of purpose; the
overcoming of differences to cooperate in pursuing a shared goal. As an
example, the original Wanapum artist of this petroglyph obviously intended
to both differentiate and unify the two figures, which can be seen at Gingko
Petrified Forest State Park in Washington.
